Baka Breakthroughs Ep 6
Realizations, big action, family time & focus.
Quote I’m living by
Every time you do a little less than you can, you become a little less than you are.
1st May: Had a great time over the weekend, upset stomach, eating less, then popping a medicine and heading off to dinner with friends watching the MI vs RR match. Then woke up feeling great, since there was no evening session I had the entire day to myself and increasing momentum. Spent a lot of time reading (Expert Secrets by Russell Brunson and Seduction by Robert Greene). Slowly building the habit of picking up my kindle whenever I get bored, so I can replace all the shitty scrolling.
2nd May: Woke up late, kinda low on energy, ordered pasta and made lunch to get back to normal. The recent issues of me not seeing good results on IG started to get better. I felt relaxed, but then I realized. I’m probably focusing on a secondary priority. Not saying it’s not important, the fact that there are more important and higher leverage tasks I should be doing. Small blessing in disguise, because until now, whenever I didn’t work on the Agency stuff, I made me feel a false sense of accomplishment by me just spending some time on my own content. Realized it’s not the top priority really got my head more focused.
3rd May: Woke up earlier today, got my bike serviced. The cook finally came back from holidays so now I don’t have to spend time cooking so much. Worked with focus, got some intentional information in, started working on the right stuff, and already seeing good momentum being built up in terms of the Agency. This will now help me be more intentional when I create content, because I don’t want to spend all my time doing that, since Agency is higher priority. Had a great wrestling session, came back and journaled here and on twitter (Check it out) Gonna really flex my muscles now to show myself and maybe you lot what I can do haha.
4th May: Good day today, got a lot of clarity regarding my offer and started getting connected with prospects. Had a great Jiu Jitsu session, reading session, didn’t waste too much time scrolling. Have to go to bed early, since I have a PT tomorrow and then going out to watch Guardians of the Galaxy with friends, then heading home in the night. Definitely gaining momentum, the remaining T-x days are going to be interesting. You guys will see it all unfold.
5th May: Watched Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 (Holy mid), not a big fan of the recent Marvel releases, although I’m not watching any series from Marvel, last one I watched was Loki, which was really good. Then lunch and chilling with friends until evening, worked an hour and half, packed up and headed to the airport for my flight at 1.15am.
6th May: Spend the day with my brother in law playing Fifa, then headed home during the evening, got home, played with Uno and crashed since I was so tired.
7th May: Good day today, didn’t work at all. Spent the whole day with family and in the night, noted down tasks that I have to take care of tomorrow and during the week. Starting tomorrow, I’ll have a lot more time than usual to take care of my work and accelerate faster in things I’m pursuing.
8th May: Parents left for their trip today, it’s 8.30 right now and I’m just finishing up this letter. I’ve got like a week to myself, and Uno too. I can spend all day working and making things better, and I will. This time will be transformational. Although I’m constantly battling the feeling of just sleeping on my bed haha.
I’ll make sure that the coming week will be one I remember for a long time.
Lessons from books:
Expert Secrets: I believe in this one, you only need this one para from the book and it’ll change the way you think about working with clients forever.
“People will do anything for those who encourage their dreams, justify their failures, allay their fear, confirm their suspicions, and help them throw rocks at their enemies” - Blair Warren
Think about how you can do majority or all of these with your product or service and people will die inside if they refuse your offer.
I’m taking this into big consideration while working on my current agency offer.
Interesting resources:
New thoughts and approach to my work:
Everyday, I spend about 4-5 hours outside of work. Martial arts sessions start at 6, I get ready at around 5.30pm, session until 7.45, then weight training for an hour, and about 30 mins just chatting with friends. Then about 45 mins getting home, making my protein shake, taking a shower and talking to parents. So essentially I start work again at 10.15pm ish.
Now that I’m home, I have all the that extra time and I’ll take this time to put me a lot ahead in various tasks.
I’ve already filmed 8 videos, one of which is posted at the time of writing this. One will be posted today, so I know that until I’m at home, I don’t necessarily have to film. I’ll still film 6-8 new videos so by the time I go back, I’ll be ahead.
Spending more time reading, I’ll try to finish Expert Secrets in the next 7-8 days, and incorporate it fully into my work. (It’s actually the first book where I can and I am applying so much)
Spending majority of time doing needle moving tasks. Outreach, working on my agency, scripting and making YT videos. And a project I’m doing on my own (You guys will see it soon).
I spent a lot of time recently working on tasks that are not necessarily needle moving tasks, (Basically the tasks that move a project ahead). Working on other stuff and made myself feel like I’m making progress. It was a hard pill to swallow, and I had to.
Food for thought: Creator economy
Comparing your journey with others: No matter how much I try to not compare myself with others, at some level I did. Because I was not growing a lot in the last month and a half, it got into my head. Once I started focusing on myself, making my craft better, coming up with new ideas, taking big steps forward, it became easier. I know that acquiring such a big audience is a feat in itself. So my job is to make sure everyone who follows me get better value over time and with that I have to make something of myself too.
We see so many creators recently, just posting surface level shit, just because it works. Because they’ve detached themselves from providing actual value. People see right through that, and it is a big reason I’ll keep on improving and investing in myself and my team to make sure we’re taking massive steps again and again.
Habit Changes:
Replacing phone with Kindle: Trying to read on my Kindle whenever I pick up my phone to look at memes. I read Vinamra Kasane write about this on his twitter, and I started reading right before bed, right after waking up and also during the day whenever I feel like wasting time.
I can assure you, it made a massive difference. So moving forward, replace your bad habits with one good habit. Keep a book within reach of your phone too, and consciously pick up the book whenever you want to use your phone. No matter if you read 2-3 pages only, it’s still good. Our brain is so fried nowadays, we can’t find joy, we become emotionless puppets whenever we use our phones. Get more in the moment.
Actionable items for you:
Pick up a book whenever you feel like scrolling on social media. Try doing this for a week and then make a progress reel over a span of 3 weeks or a month, with this habit and show people what changes you felt. Maybe it’ll help you reach a goal with freelancing, your agency or give you an idea of that one content piece that will grow your personal brand. (You never know 😉)
Create a list of 3 needle moving tasks in your work or study and spend 80% of your time on that. These are tasks that will result in direct growth for you. Make growth your priority.
Latest YouTube video:
No upload this last week, had to travel and work on loads of different stuff. You’ll get an upload in the next 3-4 days.
Do send me feedback either on Substack or via email reply, or send me a DM on IG saying “I’m here because of the newsletter”. I’ll read every single one and become better in the next one.
Because I want us to escape normality, together.
